In addition to the period products, we're also introducing personal care packs for those who are unable to afford everyday toiletries like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and shower gel. These packs come from another social enterprise, Ethstat Ethical, who use their profits to support initiatives like providing food for rough sleepers, helping vulnerable people back into work, and supporting families impacted by dementia.
These products will be available through your local community hub, so you can easily access them whenever needed. As part of our Better Days programme, you will also be able to receive free help and advice on a range of issues such as managing finances, health and wellbeing, employability and skills.
Louise Millington our Better Days Hub Lead said " Everyone has the right to access basic hygiene products, but we know the reality for some of our customers is that they are struggling to afford these everyday essentials. We want our customers to know that we’re here to help by providing practical help to access these products at no cost to them whilst also offering the long-term support and advice through our Better Days programme to help make lasting positive changes to their lives.”
Georgie Nicholson, Contracts & Partnerships Manager at Hey Girls, also shared, “No one should have to choose between buying period products and other essentials. Through our partnership with Orbit, we’re making sure more people have access to free, sustainable period products when they need them. Orbit’s ‘Better Days’ programme is already doing incredible work to support people facing financial hardship, and together, we’re not just tackling period poverty, we’re breaking down stigma, championing dignity, and ensuring better period health education for all.”
