A customer who recently moved into her Orbit home was referred to our Tenancy Sustainment team for advice and support. She had been feeling overwhelmed with her move, as she was relocating to a different county to be closer to her parents. She described it as a ‘scary experience’ as she was without a cooker or a washing machine whilst she waited to be awarded Universal Credit.
We introduced her to our hardship fund, which she qualified for due to her circumstances. Following this, she was referred to our tenancy coaches. She was surprised by the support and explained that she has never lived anywhere with so much help available to customers.
Manjit, our Triage Officer, talked her through our tenancy coaching service and outlined what sessions she could sign up for. She took part in our ‘Keys to a successful Orbit tenancy’, ‘UC, Benefits & You’ and ‘Managing the Unexpected’ sessions, as they were most suited to her. They really helped her gain confidence in managing her tenancy and understand more about Universal Credit, as she had never claimed it benefit before.
